Come on and get down with the sickness

Well, now I've got red dots on my arm. I showed hubby last night and he said..."Holy cow, that's chicken pox!"

I went to the doctor again today....sigh....
and she didn't think that it was chicken pox. I don't remember having it as a kid, but when I was pregnant with Collin they checked me for the antibodies and said I must have had it at some point. The bumps look like chicken pox to me, but I'm no doctor, so I guess I have to believe her.

Is there any other childhood illness I can come home with? Daycare is evil! LOL

This does not bode well

I have strep throat....again. I got over it and now it's back again for the 4th time. I saw a different doctor today to see what she thought and she is putting me on a stronger antibiotic and referring me to an ear nose and throat doctor. She said that my tonsills may need to come out. Ugh..I'm 32. I've never had surgery before and I really don't want to do this. If I get my tonsills out it's gonna be bad because I'm older. I have that appointment next month, so keep your fingers crossed that this round of antibiotics get rid of this for me.

Work has really picked up. I get new plants in everyday and I'm beginning to see that this job is very physically demanding. Not only am I moving large plants around, but I have to help load fence panels and large decorate rocks. The other night I had to push 625 pounds of rock (it's the kind of rock you'd use for a raised flower bed or retaining wall) through the store and load them up for a customer. I am finding muscles I never knew I had. Plus I've lost about 12 pounds.

My manager and I got into an argument yesterday because she said that I was unloading the plant truck too slowly. When I get an order in I have to count every plant by hand and make sure it matches my purchase order. This is only like the third truck I've helped to unload. She just snapped at me and started to pull stuff off the racks and she shouldn't be even doing it because she is pregnant. She was practically throwing these 5 gallon plants at me. That really pissed me off. She made some snarky comment about how if I couldn't pick up the pace then maybe this wasn't the job for me. I wanted to quit right there and then. I don't know why, it just caught me off guard, and she was being so hateful. But I kept my cool and let it go. I may keep my eye open for other openings in the store. I was also thinking...if I have to have my tonsills out it looks like the recovery time is about a month for adults. They also recommend not doing any strenuous work for quite some time after you get them removed. Wouldn't that just be the perfect payback? I'm awful...I know.

Third time is the charm

I am on day 3 of my 3rd round of antibiotics for strep throat. For the past two months (and I'm not exaggerating) I've had strep throat or have been recovering from it and lemme tell you, it's getting old. This last bought of it really hit me hard. I had 102 fever, chills, could hardly swallow and the worst headache I've had in a long time. I felt as weak as a newborn kitten. My mom had to take me to the doctor (not that hubby wouldn't have, but my mom works nights so she offered) because I didn't feel I could drive safely. So I've been basically sleeping and hanging out on the couch recuperating.

Poor Dave. I'm not the only one who has been sick. We also had to take Collin to the doctor because not only did he have a bad ear infection, he had nicked his little finger on something and it became red and swollen. Basically Dave has been playing nurse maid to both me and Collin. But on the bright side we are both feeling better now and are well on our way to a full recovery!

I bet my work thinks real highly of me missing a day here and a day there from work every couple of weeks for strep throat. I'm surprised they haven't asked me to try getting more creative if I want time off. Good thing I've got proof!

Other than being sick, it's been a great weekend so far. We rented some movies and we all did a little shopping with my mom. I had to get out of the house for a few hours. I was starting to get that cooped up feeling. Collin loves to go bye bye.

We rented Talladega Nights, Employee of the Month, Saw III, and The Decent. Talladega Nights and Employee of the Month were ok. Neither were worthy of adding to the family library. And for the scary movies...they were both pretty good. The decent spent a little too much time building up to the scary part, but for me...being trapped in an underground cavern is bad enough without adding monsters. Saw III was gory as expected and didn't disappoint with the ending. Did not see that one coming. I don't know. Some people don't understand why I like scary movies, especially the gross ones. I like a good comedy, chick flick or even musicals, but every once in awhile I like a good scare.

I think it's time for me to wrap this up. I haven't had much sleep lately due to not being able to breathe out of my nose. ;P

An interesting twist on a favorite movie

Isn't it amazing how just changing the music and doing some creative editing can change the whole feel of a movie?

Another little golden moment...

The other night I got in from work rather late, so I was just sitting on the floor in the office chattering on and on about the latest drama that is work. And then my son did something pretty funny.
He put his finger to his lips and told me to shush. I laughed my ass off! Here is this little two year old, telling me to basically shut the hell up. Priceless...

I love you

My son just made my night tonight. Every night we do the same thing. He gets his bath at 8pm, brushes his teeth, gets his jammies on, I make his bed ready then he sits on either my husband or my lap and has a sippy of milk. Once he's relaxed enough, we say goodnight, blow kisses and he gets taken to his room usually by his daddy. Well tonight, he told me "I love you" and blew me a kiss. I couldn't believe it! He's never said that to either me or Dave before. He said it without any prompting and I didn't say it first. (Although I do tell him I love him all the time) He then proceeded to tell me again "I love you". My heart just melted.
I got a little misty eyed. All from three little words from a two year old.

I said no...gosh!

I've been using a credit monitoring system since my passport and ID were stolen in Venice last year. I probably have nothing to worry about, but with terrorism and identity theft being so prevalent today I figure better safe than sorry.
Well, we found a company that we like better and decided to cancel the old service. I called their customer service department and thought I made things pretty cut and dry.
I said that I wanted to cancel my service and he asked me the usual question...was there something wrong with their service? I told him no, I just decided to go elsewhere. He then procedes to go into this whole scripted thing (he sounded like a robot) about why I should stay and no matter how many times I interrupted him with no thanks he kept on going!! I was getting pissed! Geez...can't a person just call and cancel something without a major hassle? As a last ditch effort, he offers me a prepaid VISA card worth $25 whole dollars if I keep the service. I couldn't believe it.
Just cancel the damn thing. I don't want to see a charge on my credit card starting right now! He finally sighed...and with a defeated tone...told me that my service would be cancelled started 2/4 and I wouldn't be charged next month.
This is why I don't do those free trial offer things...
